Phone scam? no caller id

This morning I’ve received two phone calls on my cell phone with no caller id. As soon as I answered it, the phone started ringing - so I hung up immediately.

My concern is that it is one of those scams where it links me to some foreign number where they charge me $19 a minute or something like that. They’ve called twice in 15 minutes. Apparently I can’t block the number because there isn’t one.

I have a feeling they will keep calling back. Any ideas what this is?

The call is coming from INSIDE your phone, throw it in the nearest body of water and RUN.

Well, that didn’t go over so well. The nearest body of water was in a toilet that my wife was sitting on. She didn’t appreciate the splash. Plus, I wasn’t paying attention and threw her phone in and not mine. I’m going to be sleeping on the couch for a while.

Cell Phone Rule #1: No caller ID, not answering.

I generally don’t answer the phone if I don’t recognize the number but on occasion will pick up if its a local area code.

I got a third phone call from 1-234-567-890. I answered it and the same thing happened. I waited and someone picked up asking for Sue. I told them no sue and hung up. I googled it and saw it is a phishing scam.

I am going to follow someone’s advice on the website where I read the comments. I have some hearing protection and a very loud whistle…

well that was fun. I missed a phone call from a New York number. I have some customers in NY so I returned the call. It was a heavily accented Indian voice telling me I qualified for a personal loan.

I put on my hearing protection and blew a really loud whistle. I removed them and asked if he was still there. He started his spiel again, so I repeated step 1. I removed them and asked what that loud noise was and he had the gall to hang up on me. I was hoping to get some free money.

In my experience it’s usually a call center that is cold calling you. It’s either some home service (windows, duct cleaning) or some scam (Microsoft “security”) etc.

Either way, once I hear it ringing I hang up too.

I use mr number phone app. It blocks those calls. If the call does come through it will tell if other people have marked it as spam. You can mark them also.
