Phoenix STers - where to find latex tubes?

I’ve ordered latex tubes from nashbar but they’re not going to be here until Tuesday. Well I’m racing Tempe international Sunday and I have a flat in one of my race wheels. Trisports.com was out of stock. Tribe was out of stock. Landis doesn’t carry them. Bicycle showcase doesn’t carry them. Bicycle ranch doesn’t carry them. Do any Phoenix STers know where I can find a latex tube today or tomorrow?

If all else fails and I can’t find one, would it be better to patch my existing latex tube or play it safe and run a new butyl tube?

whats that shop over by ASU??? they have some high end stuff, check them out…is it dominicks bikes or something like that?

I have looked around too. They are pretty hard to find around here. Worse come to worse I will start gluing some trojans together.

Doesn’t Performance carry them? One down at Ray and Kyrene. I’d call them.

Ray and Kyrene is a little far (I live in Fountain Hills), but if I don’t find one before tomorrow I’ll probably give them a call. Looks like there’s also a Performance up here in Scottsdale, so I’ll probably try them too.

Yeah, there are a few around. I just checked on their website and “latex” didn’t
return any hits.

Then again, maybe I was on the wrong website.

I didn’t see any in their tubes section on their website either, but I’ll give them a call and see if they have them.

Just called the Scottsdale store. No latex tubes, only butyl. Ugh.

No dice with Dominic’s either. Why are these so hard to find??? Serves me right for not keeping a stock at home.

2 ideas for you.

I know my other LBS, Pima St. Bikes in Tucson carries them for you. I can stop by and pick up a few, you can get them form me tomorrow ~3:30pm or so @ registration and pay me back then.

I have a spare tube, I can bring it up, you can get it from me tomorrow and pay me back then.

let me know quickly, and I’m shooting you a PM. I’m leaving for the pool in about 10 min and can swing by Pima St.

Perhaps Bicycle Showcase (Scottsdale and Shea)? Landis Cyclery would be the best bet though.

EDIT:

Whoops! Or Tribe Multisport.

Just talked with Fair Wheels and they have them in stock also.

Desert Dude’s got me taken care of. Thanks for the help Brian! Thanks everyone else for the replies.

Ok scratch that, Brian’s lbs was sold out. I may be SOL on finding a new latex tube. What’s everyone’s thoughts on whether I should try to patch the old latex tube or just run a butyl tube? It’s a small hole, probably from a thorn is my guess.

That’s just horrible.
How can you ever expect to be the best without latex tubes?
My sympathys.

I believe a DNS is your only option at this point.

Why aren’t you patching it, again? Latex tubes patch exactly the same as butyl and it doesn’t change the rolling resistence at all. I read an article by the guy who tests rr all the time and said he purposely fixed a tube his cat had molested and it still had the same rolling resistence with 10-12 patches.

Damn! I was worried that might be the case

I didn’t say I wasn’t. I was just asking whether I should or not. I’ll give it a try with a patch tonight, and make sure it’s held air before I leave for bike check-in tomorrow. I’m not really as worried as I seem about this I swear!

This isn’t a Kona qualifier nor are there cash payouts. All you get is a nice stone box for your “herbs”. Put a regular tube in and quit worrying about it.
