Thought I was going to be in Tuscon, but looks like Phoenix now. Anyone know how the road riding is out of say the Tempe area? Also, can you suggest a good shop to rent a bike in Tempe.

Possibly Tribe Multisport in Scottsdale to rent a bike. I am not sure but they are worth a call or visit for a well stocked tri store. A fun ride is South Mountain park. It is located at the south end of Central ave. If you start at the park it is a nice climb to the towers with a great view of the valley and desert. Searching mapmyride.com will give you tons of different routes.
I rented a Trek 5000 from Arizona Outback Adventures in Scottsdale. They gave me a map of some good rides, and I loved riding there.
I have never rented a bike from Arizona Outback Adventures, but I live a few miles from their shop. There is very good riding in that area; PM me for details or search this forum under “Scottsdale” as some good routes have been posted here.
