during ride this past weekend discovered section around Norristown was closed…what’s the easiest way around this and back on the Path? Tried to look on a Google map dut didn’t see any re-entry points.
It’s closed from Ford St. to Ross St. Take one of those out to Main Street to bypass the closure and then you can get back to it pretty easily. Ford St. is one way so just watch out for that.
As dmorris said it’s just a 1/2 mile section but it can be a tricky detour … going from Norristown east toward Philly:
Left off the SRT onto Ford St, right at light onto Main St for 1/2 mile, right onto Conshohocken Rd (top of the hill past car dealership) for 1/2 mile (riding under 2 overpasses). Immeadiately after 2nd overpass make a right onto Station Rd, proceed 100 meters to SRT. Hang a left after the train tracks.
Reverse directions going westbound, except Ford is a one way.
Thanks - appreciate the info.
Thanks for the info. I, too, turned around at this section this weekend past. My colleagues and I opted not to attempt to do a manual detour, but with those instructions it sounds pretty straightforward and I’ll give it a go this weekend. The path opens again on weekends in a few weeks per the Philly Bike Club.
FYI all STers - The West River Drive Time Trial kicks off on 4/19/2014. The unofficial first race sounds like it will be this Saturday (4/12) though, as a number of people have announced they are planning on meeting and racing. For those that are unfamiliar, the West River Time Trial is a free, timed Time trial on West River Drive. It is a simple out and back every Saturday during the Spring and Summer, from April through September. It starts at 7am, so show up at 6:55 AM if you are interested in racing.
