Dear Mayor and Members of Council of the City of Peterborough,
The Subaru Half Iron Man is one of many excellent events held in and around Peterborough that make Peterborough a destination for me. I hope the City of Peterborough takes a leadership roll in ensuring the continuation of this and the many other cycling, running and multipsort events that draw thousands of people and their tourist dollars.
I spent the following amount in the Peterborough community during my training and race day visits.

It looked like traffic chaos on television road and by the lift lock, on a very hot humid day. Do you think there will be lots of complaints from motorists? Do you think that run course will be the same next year?
Yes, I am sure there will be lots of complaints. The city/township and Trisport overlooked putting detour signs suggesting alternate routes on Parkhill and Landsdowne/Hwy 7 to avoid using Television Rd. Hence people turned on to Television Rd and were committed before they saw signs.
If that were addressed i think the complaints would have been small.
Great idea. I was thinking the same thing with the blaring horns on TVroad- several of these clowns are going to complain, and enough of those can jeopardize an event.
I thought Little Lake was great for the swim. There were 2 places where the weeds reached the surface and would wrap your arms, but they broke off easily and didn’t slow you down (I did notice the pack seemed to slow a bit in these sections). However, you could see the bottom/weeds for much of the swim- seeing the constant progress made me feel like I was swimming quite fast.
As long as it does not rain really hard the day before the race the e-coli count is pretty good. This year the levels were fine. Really heavy rains wash the dog & cow pooh into the river and can even overwhelm the sewage plant.
Nice work Dev, way to overcome those “rookie” mistakes. I still can’t believe the crap you eat before a race. Why not just guzzle Ex-Lax and some sawdust?

At least he let 2 whole people beat him in the swim, and 1 on the bike. I guess (on planet Bjorn) that could be considered taking it a bit easier to set up a good run.
Shame the PT battery died, I’da loved to see that file. Damn, 2:18 is silly-fast.
All monday am quarterbacking aside, nice work boyz, you both had a pretty good day at the office in the end, in spite of some rough patches. Better to get all those whammies out now, rather than when it really counts.
PS - where the hell is Petersborough? That might be a thought if I ever wanna try to get into IMC, since as a non-Canuck I’d never be able to get in any other way; registration for that thing makes IMLP look like IMAZ.
I thought the weeds were bad this year. I’m not crazy about the weeds or the murky water. I’m glad no one got into trouble during the swim b/c I don’t think they would have found the body for weeks. How many lifeguards did you see? I think I saw one lifeguard on shore and one in a canoe. Is there not a better body of water in the area?
Water was murky in the shallows (i.e. standing depth), but beyond that it was fine. Weeds were a little excessive in a few spots, but that’s what wetsuits are for
Hey Mike…I don’t take Claritin, nor do I take any medication, multivitamins or supplements. I just deal with my allergies by living with them. No point messing up my body with all these bogus drugs, that mess up the rest of your body…its not like the drugs have intelligence and just attack the symptoms that you buy them for…they persist in your body for a long time and all your organs have to deal with this stuff. If I’m not dying from something, I’m using the same pharmaceuticals that my ancestors used 1000 years ago…and that would be “just eating well”. Seems to serve me quite well. If my dinner plate has lots of colour, than there is good chance that I have all my micronutritional needs covered
