I know Reid does alot of training on bikes other than his TT bike. (road, cyclecross, mtn). I am curious as to how much he actually rides his TT bike? I am figuring he rides it more the closer he gets to race day, and I have read that it is someting like 4 weeks out that he starts doing all his training on his TT bike. I also wonder if he rode it more this season in his effort to improve his cycling?
Maybe “writerguy” Clint will see this thread. I’d be interested in the answer, too. I hope to do more of my training on my tri bike in the future.
From what I remember in talking to him a couple years back, at the time he was riding a CX bike on the fire roads once per week, a fixie once per week, and the rest of the time he’s on his race bike. I’m sure he drops the CX and fixie riding as race day nears.
Hey guys - sorry I’ve been travelling the last two days and just saw this thread. First of alll, I don’t want to come off as some kind of Peter Reid training expert but if I do have any insight into what he’s doing I don’t mind, and I know he doesn’t care if I share. So - the question is, how much time does Pete spend on his TT bike. I can tell you this - not too much.
When he’s in Victoria in the winters then the cross bike sees a lot of milage. He rides his road bike the most when the weather cooperates and pulls the TT bike out as he approaches races - but then he’ll do MONSTER miles on that bad boy.
Has he ever had troubles adapting to the steeper seat angle after being in a more slack position for most of his base training, and beyond?
Not to my knowledge. Remember, the guy rides three times as much as the rest of us mortal men so it doesn’t take long for him to adapt to any particular ride.
Thansk for the insight on his training. I find it amazing that some guys are so willing to give their fans info on their training, lifestyle, etc… and others only care about training.
Tim De Boom comes to mind. Great guy - Don’t get me wrong. But his website has been down for quite some time and he is a 2 time World Champion. I find that unprofessional.
I’d love to know more about hsi training, sponsor’s, etc…I think that some pros don’t realize it’s not about being the fastest. It’s about being the fastest while helping your sponor’s image. Faris gets that. Reid and other seem to as well.

Gotta say I am with you on that line of thinking. It amazes me that many pro’s comment on the lack of money in the sport but they don’t seem to do some cheap marketing for themselves such as updating their fans via their web page.
Just got some interesting numbers from Peter’s web master - this month alone Peter has gotten nearly 800,000 hits to his website! If I’m a sponsor that’s got to be good news!
Jamie Whitmore’s site has not been updated in a year. Odd as she is heavily sponsored.
