Peter Reid to race Monaco 70.3!

I heard today that Peter is racing this 70.3! Anyone know different or any idea about Hawaii?

Is he on the start list? If not, who did you hear it from?

Hey guys,

Pete had intended to race Monaco as a few of the athletes he’s coaching were going to be there but due to poor running “choice” he made last week he’ll be out for a while with a stress fracture. Don’t look for PR to be racing this season for fun or otherwise.

shit, that sucks. Hopefully the poor running choice was something like a trail run from Whistler village up 5800 ft to the Whistler Mountain summit and then back down again…only something insane like that would be worth the stress fracture :-(. Or maybe Peter does not want racing badly enough to give up coffee for 2 weeks …

The former is closer to the truth.

Or an unproven shoe.

I think he was supposed to do the Xterra in Utah this weekend as well but had to pull out due to the injury, right Clint?.

Somebody give Peter a DREMEL for X-mas… please!

LOL…a sharp razor blade will cut them off fine!

Injury, schminjury. Peter just needs to HTFU, that’s all.

You know, I was in Squamish 1.5 weeks ago, and I was looking at the mountains thinking that Peter must have some crazy ass running routes in the area…but where do you guys ride…is it just Sea to Sky either towards Whistler or along the traffic deathtrap towards Vancouver?

There is some great riding just past Whistler, to the North. I used to ride a lot up past Pemberton where there is a lot less traffic. That, and supplement the road riding with a ton of time on the mountain bike.

I did some riding between Whistler and Pemberton…that’s great riding, but not really very accessible from Squamish.

running injury … doesn’t Peter run in Newtons?

lol

Wow.
Doesn’t take much to get this gang going!
You guys are great. Really.
He was running on some snaky trails and the problems began there.
That’s all.

Cheers,
Clint

Yup, typical anonymous poster response…bash a guy while he is down…do it in text from behind a keyboard…I’d like to see the same words out of his mouth sitting across from Peter in cafe face to face.

I must have missed the post that was bashing Peter Reid. Did anyone post and then delete it?

Snaky trails? Yeah, I heard he got bit by a cobra or something. Regardless, he needs to learn to HTFU.

It wasn’t so much as busting on Peter as it is busting on him for choosing a shoe the nameless armchair critics figure is a lark. I’d venture to guess the lion’s share of the people on this forum running their mouths haven’t even tried the shoe, they’re just jumping on the bandwagon because busting on Newton without having ever even run a mile in them seems to be the style these days. This is a true case of "don’t judge a man—or his choice of shoe—without walking (running) a mile in his shoes.

I’ve been putting in 45-mile weeks for an October marathon and dig the hell out of 'em. My wife has used them to finally settle chronic shinsplints. Aside from the temporary calf soreness that changing to a more efficient, higher cadence run form brought in the early weeks, no issues—whatsoever. If you’ve got something to say negative about them or Peter’s choice of shoe, fine, at least back it with some anecdote, fact, something of substance.
