I moved the camera off of NE a bit too far, only managed to see 2 meteorites, only caught one. I thought this morning was supposed to be the peak?

Agreed. A flop.
fake news disappoints.
‘Peak’ doesn’t mean ‘the end’.
It generally does mean most activity though.
Drove up to Mauna Kea last night (got back at 3:00am this morning).
Total. Fucking. Dud.
Yeah I saw I think 4 over the course of an hour.
I’m not holding my breath on this whole “total eclipse” thing. I think NASA is just doing it for ratings.

A friend of mine that moved to cottage country was raving about how awesome it was for him.
According to my wife Saturday morning was pretty good, she watched it from the bathroom window in town where we’re surrounded by street lights.

Backdoor brag.
The drive from Mauna Kea to Kona in the dark sucks once you’re off the saddle. Done it 2x now, hated it both times.

I’m used to driving a lot so it wasn’t that bad. Definitely have to pay attention.

Super dark, I assume?
I watched the sunset in South Africa then drove back into Cape Town along the coast (on the left side) in complete darkness. That was… interesting.

I don’t know about SA but the cars in Hawaii have headlights.

Yup. My car had lights. There were no other cars around. Lots of bends on the coast south of Cape Town. The cars I have driven don’t have light up around the bend headlight technology yet.
Ok.
I just don’t find it all that difficult.
You should try driving at night on LA freeways (or Moscow or San Jose, Costa Rica).
Now that’s scary…
