why would they trade him? Something happen that we don’t know of?
Yikes, the jets-the worst coached team right now.

Just read it on espn. WTF? Maybe there was more to his hip injury than know of. Don’t forget the great Bo Jackson was forced to retire due to a hip injury.
People are walking the hallways in the Seahawks jerseys, stunned. My Facebook and Twitter feeds are exploding. I’m glad I bought a Hauschka jersey instead of #11.
Everyone thought it was some kind of fantasy football league alert on their phones.
yeah, I can imagine. I seriously have not heard ANY reasons all year about his behavior or anything that would make me think this is a locker room thing. And, they already signed him, so why are they doing this? What have you heard (I think you live in seattle right?)
Just recently I was between Wilson or Harvin jerseys. Good thing I went with Wilson. Stunned though.
Wow! WTH?

We are just about at that time in the year where his migraines start to act up.
Percy is a me first guy. Smart by Seattle. Dump the “headache” and his fat contract.
Local sports radio is generally happy about this. Saying he was “difficult to coach” which is code for being an asshole.
Lots of rumors flying around at this point but the general tone is that he was a bad investment that they cut loose. He cost them a lot of money and didn’t get many games out of him.
He cost them picks, which is much more important than money and cannot be recovered.
But, and I told you this last year, you better get another Super Bowl this year b/c you have a lot of players to pay after this year. Wilson will be looking for back-pay.
The reasons are two-fold. The obvious one is to make salary-cap space for the future big-money deal coming for quarterback Russell Wilson at the end of this season, a deal that likely will be way north of $100 million for four to five years.
Even so, why do it now? Why trade your most explosive offensive weapon, the man a large part of the offense is built around, five games into a season in which you hope to return to the Super Bowl?
The answer is the Seahawks were tired of Harvin’s act, several sources have confirmed. The bottom line: He was more trouble than he’s worth.
Rumored to be a total prick.
You might hear “wasn’t a fit”.
That means total prick.

Sources also said a few incidents in recent months helped set the stage for Friday’s stunning trade.
One source confirmed a report that Harvin had gotten into an altercation with former Seahawk Golden Tate before the Super Bowl that resulted in Tate getting a black eye.
A source also said Harvin had an altercation with Seattle receiver Doug Baldwin in the week leading up to the final exhibition game this August at Oakland that resulted in Baldwin getting a cut on his chin and each player being excused from practices that week. Harvin, who did not practice for two days before that game, did not make the trip to Oakland for what the team said at the time was “a personal matter.”
Diehard Seahawks fan here. Now that I’ve had some time to think about it, I’m glad. This jet sweep thing and lining him up in the backfield was talking away from the read option that got the Seahawks to the Super Bowl last year. Everyone talks about how dynamic he is, but he’s played less than 40% of the plays this year and hasn’t done anything great. The Seahawks also have rookie Paul Richardson, who’s just as fast and is probably now super motivated to step up.
To quote Russell Wilson, “I think we’ll be just fine”. Go Hawks!
He is a total asshole. He was here for awhile and couldn’t get along with Leslie Frazier, one of the easiest coaches to deal with.
I too was shocked when I read the headlines. Seems like that gave up a lot to get him but let him go for only a little.
And then the stories surfaced about what a locker room cancer he was. I suspect that we will hear more and more of this in the coming days. I am not a Pete Carroll fanboy, but the guys knows a thing to two about building a good winning environment. I would trust him on this one.

I feel bad for the Jets. He has been this way since High School, he "g r a d u a t e d early "
This is from Wikipedia, but I have been following him since his sophomore year at Landstown HIgh School I know these statements are all true.
Despite his accomplishments, Harvin’s high school athletic career was not without controversy. He served a one-game suspension early in his junior football season for unsportsmanlike conduct. As a senior, he was suspended for the final two regular-season games after making contact with an official and using inappropriate language during a game against First Colonial High School. In basketball, Harvin and a Green Run High School player were involved in a scuffle that prompted referees to stop the game with time remaining on the clock. As a result of this and prior incidents, Harvin was suspended from athletic competition by the Virginia High School League (VHSL).
Well it seems that everyone feels it was a good move and I agree. I really had no idea that he was an issue. It caught me by surprise going on talent factor only. I would have traded him too.i certainly hope the rookie will learn from Percy issues

You’d need several hands to count how many fights he got into with teammates (and times he failed drug tests) at Florida, but of course Urban Meyer never had him sit a play. Since then, he’s had countless fights with professional teammates and the headache thing (who knows what the truth is with that). Didn’t know it was a secret that he was one of the biggest a-holes in football.
Here’s a clue. When a team (Vikings) trades a player like Percy then it’s a clue he is an asshole. There aren’t many trades made in the NFL, especially when abstar is involved.
