Penticton Update #2

  1. Another perfect day here in Penticton. Good numbers of people out at the monring swim. Many people checking out the Nineteen wetsuits all morning. Thanls for those folks that stopped by to demo the suits.

  2. Expo was packed this morning with many vendors reporting brisk sales.

  3. Pro Press Conference was good. Jonnyo and Gordo had the big stare down and then started to . . . . . trade jokes! Both of them are jokers at heart. Jonnyo has a future as a stand-up comic and Gordo, well his brother is a professional stand-up comic! It was good to see thekm both in great spirits. Keirn Doe was there as well as Andriy Yastrebov. I will note that Paulo was NOT wearing an Orange shirt! Seems that we may have a real race on our hands with the men as there has been confirmation of a secret late entry that will warm the hearts of the ST Nation. As for the ladies - Hethre Fuhr and Lisa Bentley were almost as comedic as Gordo and Jonnyo. These are two veteren and professional athletes and I am sure that we are going to see a great battle on race day. Lucy Smith may surprise. If she does not loose too much time on the swim, she could be a serious factor as she could potentially out run both Fuhr and Bentley.

  4. Forcast for race day remains constant - highs in the low 20’s/70’s with light winds. Despite the potentially ideal conditions, Gordo says that Thomas Hellreigel’s course record of 8:09 is safe. However, the G-Man did say that it’s going to take a time under 8:30 to win!!

  5. TV broadcast fore race day is coming together. Huddle and I with the help of Michael Lovato, were able to interview many of the favourites. We have a our final production meeting tommorow.

  6. That’s it for now. I am heading off to the VIP wine tasting session before the pre-race dinner.

i will have a meeting with the secret last minute entry… should be a very very fun person to mix the cards and make the race even more exciting and also…harder!!!

what about me joking… i was dead serious all the way!!!

i wouldn’t be surprised if your secret last minute entry gets off the bike 6min in front of whomever is in second, and the lead may be as much as double digits. i don’t expect him to win overall, but stranger things have happened.

I’d love to see that happen…a short taper swim for him this morning…then home to pack up and get to the airport.

well, then there’s two secret entries, and i take back my prediction on the amount my guy will take out off his asswhup belt and strapp the field on the bike. but, it wouldn’t surprise me if the two secret guys came off together.
