This is for the Western Canadians.Does anyone live or have any contacts who live along the route from Penticton to Sylvan Lake,Alberta.I'll be riding to Sylvan Lake in time for the Half Iron there and was wanting to be able to make camp along the way without having to do battle with the wildlife and the tourist hoards(don't know which are worse). If any of you know of anyone along the way who has a bit of grass for my little tent to sit on that would be a great help.I'll be going from Penticton-Sicamous-Revelstoke-Golden-Lake Louise-Canmore-Cochrane-Sylvan Lake leaving next Monday morning arriving in Sylvan Lake on the Friday.Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
You have brought back a flood of reflections and fine memories. After college I went on a solo bike ride form Vancouver to Calgary and took the exact route you are describing. It’s a fantastic trip and one you will love. I will look up my old maps, I still have them in the garage. I also have my daily journal still and I’ll go through it and see if anything comes up you need to stop at. Enjoy the ride!
It’s great that you kept your journal.I too often think back to my tours when I’ve lost my motivation to train and that is why I’m doing this ride.I need to get out on the road for a few days to find the old spark before my last push to Ultraman Canada in Sept.I was very sad to pull out of the double in Quebec last week so this trip is a bit of a substitue. If you are interested check out my blog from the ride I did in Sth America last year. Now that was a hoot.Might inspire you to get out there again.
