Just recieved my first penalty last weekend for 1:00. Just shows you that even USAT Officials
get penalties too. Came in to hot and fast, doing the one leg over the bike to able me to run
off the bike, fell down (dumb ass me) got up, thank the gentleman for handing me my shoe,
and he saw it…a friend of mine that was the Official. After the race he informed me of
the call and the penalty. I thanked him.
You take it, learn from it and move on. Just when you think you know the rules…you don’t.
Lesson learned.
Man my club members are having a field day with this one. I am laughing about it today.
Still had a good day…onto Muncie Endurathon (and I am not coming hot either)
You should have told the guy to “drop the shoe!” 
I had a similar experience a few weeks ago. Came into T2 and as I stepped off the bike, one of my shoes came unclipped and I didn’t notice. I took a few running steps and soon heard “you lost your shoe!” In my case, however, it was the USAT official saying this and he left it there for me to run back and pick up. So no penalty for me
yeah in the rush of things , then looking back and seeing other bikers coming in, I
did not think and took the shoe. Your right, he is right…should have known better.
Should have said " just drop it" and then go. But leeson learned, and will not do it again.
Knock me back from about 6th place to 9th. Still take it.
Again, Officals get caught like everyone else
