This woman is swimming between New Brunswick and PEI to raise money for AIDS. 14k swim.

That’s some cold water.

…hang on…The Ferry from New Brunswick to Newfoundland is an overniter that take 12 hours and crosses the Gulf of St. Lawrence.

The Northhumberland Strait is between Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick. That would be 14K. Is she wearing a wetsuit ? Fortunately, the NH strait is fairly shallow and typically has the warmest water North of Cape Hatteras NC.

It wasn’t clear if she was wearing a wetsuit or not - if one assumes the photo on the CBC’s site is from the start of her swim, possibly not…

Damn yer right  I’ll fix the origianl post (I’m such a git)

Hey to you Upper Canadians it’s all Newfoundland anyway.

Anything east of Quebec, that is.

Cool. I’ve got friends/family with cottages in the area of her start and her finish. I recall swimming with a couple of jelly-fish on the PEI side a couple of years ago. Hopefully they aren’t a problem for her.

The NH strait is filled with Jellyfish…

And lots of Anne of Green Gables dolls.

I highly recommend the book “Swimming to Antarctica” by long distance swimmer Lynne Cox. She writes extremely well and the book is fantastic. What she has done for open water swimming is unreal.

That is a great accomplishment, in the same order of magnitude as swimming the channel, which is 20 miles long and about 19 C at its warmest temperature in September.
