Pedals, what do you use and why?

Time RXE road, like the amount of float without moving around like speedplay.

Speedplay. Because I like them.

Eggbeaters. Light, simple, and impossible to pull out of during a sprint.

What are you using them for?

I like my side mount pedals, but they’re not for everyone.

Time RSX Titan on all my bikes now…but for my road bike that has (and I went back to) Time Equipe Titan. The RSX is not at all as solid a pedal as the Equipe pedals of past - and in my “right -vs- left” hand weight test it is hard to tell the RSX Ti from the old old Titan Mag Equipe.

I also bring old style Time pedals to Spin class and mount them up for good measure each time. Yes, my shoes are Yellow!

SPD-SL for all bikes, it works for me, looks like there is a new model for 07
.

it’s got a wider platform and all the guys from the shop who tried them loved them. Wayne from specialized was showing us his tricked out ride with the new tubeless tires…awesome!

Eggbeaters too. Four-way clip-in, never get jammed. And such a simple concept, hard to, er, beat.

Look Keo carbon Ti. I have always used looks. Light but $$$

Speedplay…

I use Speedplay Zero’s because I like the double sided entry and the amount of float (I don’t have knee trouble, but everyone in my family does so I want to play it safe) If I had any significant amount of climbing when cycling I don’t think I’d use the Zero’s but I don’t.

I use the Look Keo Carbons on the TT-bike and the Shimano Ultegra on the race bike.

Both are they great pedals, I used to have the Shimano 105 on the TT bike, but a friend needed to sell his Keos, and then I decided to try 'em out. Really great pedals, and they look good too!

look keo Ti on one bike, carbon on another…

my first bike I bought was used and came with look’s ansd I have always stuck with them.

SPD’s on my mountian bikes…

Tri bike and road bike are Look’s cuz I’ve been using them since I was 16. Oh, and no float with the black cleats.

MTB Candys cuz they were on sale when I needed MTB pedals.

I use spd, although i’m not crazy about them.

my first requirement is that i need to be able to get in and out of them easily, and if not, still be able to push down on the pedal enough to get across the street before an oncoming car has time to turn in to me.

used to use looks, i like htem a lotmore once i’m in the pedals. if i lived in the countryside i’d put them back on.

curious about the speedplays…

I use a “road” SPD pedal I found on PerformanceBike.com because I dont like to put the cycling shoes on while on the bike and I have very soft swimmer’s feet so running through transition in bare feet or socks is out of the question. Plus, with recessed cleats, running in the shoes is very sure-footed and faster than the people I see duck walking with their Looks.

I use SPD-SL and they don’t work. The small black plastic-cap will be teared down and you have to buy new ones, which’s expansiv the '07-model have replaced those with metal-plates/caps

I have SPD MTB pedals on all my bikes, tri, road, track, and MTB. I like them–easy in, easy out, right amount of float, can tighten them down for track sprints.

Look Keo Sprint - they were on sale when I bought my bike. Have been very happy with them. They seem to be more stable than the spd mountian bike pedals I have on my road bike.

Look on the Tri Bike - red cleat - loving them, easy out, good stability - perfect.

MTB, was Shimano … however, I got tired of falling on rocks and going boom OUCH due to not clipping out in time, so now I have downhill pedals with spikes in them - can climb no prob, but also put my foot down, no problem.
