Opinions? Feedback? I just broke my second look keo blade pedal within the last 10 months. The left one both times and it broke in the middle of the pedal again. Using on a Trek Speed Concept 9 series. Thinking of switching to the Shimano Ultegra or Dura Ace pedals…

I definitely wouldn’t go back a third time. I’d never ride a pedal with a Ti spindle. Me fatty.
I love the Ultegra pedals. I wouldn’t drop the extra cash for Dura Ace. 105 is definitely the best bargain for SPD-SLs in my opinion. But still… I ride the latest Ultregras.

+1
I was looking at the Keo Areo Blades myself and then decided to just go Ultegra 6800. These pedals from Shimano are known to last forever and a day.
Or just save the extra cash and downgrade to a lower level Look with a stronger spindle.
I’m running 105’s with no problems. I couldn’t see a reason to go above Ultegra though.

So, did the spindle break? If so, there’s your answer. The carbon Ultegras are almost as light as the Dura Ace and a lot less expensive. With Shimano cleats, you have walking tabs so you’re less likely to slip on the floor at the convenience store. You’re also not walking on the entire engagement mechanism, so the cleats don’t wear out as fast.
I’ve never had the titanium Looks or Speedplays, but I have two sets of titanium Time pedals. Both with more than 5000 miles (pretty new) and no issues except that the cleats wear pretty fast.
The carbon broke right in the center of the actual pedal

Good to know. That means you don’t have a spindle issue. I’d still recommend the Shimanos. You’ll always be able to find cleats at any LBS. While I love my Times, I usually carry a spare set of cleats whenever I travel. Just can’t count on an LBS to stock more than Look and Shimano cleats.
Time pedals were also an outlier in the friction-facts.com test.
