Pedals-DA or Campy

I’m in the market for new pedals for my road bike. I’m leaning toward DA instead of Campy. Can anyone give me some insight. I’ve used Speedplay and Coombe. I like the Coombe much better but am looking for a larger platform. Any recommendations?

im with you on that one … i have look keo pedals and they are already shot after 5 months of riding

I couldn’t believe Look had a new model where the cleat is actually SOFTER than the previous ones…

Keywin CRM - best of breed.

i know … should have listened to rappstar …oh well i guess i will be getting those time pedals now

Not to much support for DA or Campy. Went to RBR to check out Time. Seems like the composite pedal has problems with breakage so is the carbon pedal the one to get?

I have the composite ones and haven’t have a problem. They break when crashed, or with normal use?

I have both the Shimano (Ultegra version SPD-SL) and the Campy Chorus pedals. Used the Campy pedals for about 10k miles. About 1k on the Shimano pedals. One thing that the Shimano pedals are better for is clipping in. Easier than the Campy pedals. However, the Campy pedals feel more secure to me. The Shimano pedals make kind of a clicking noise on mine when pulling up through the pedal stroke. Kinda feels like one of the attachment screws is loose, but they aren’t. In short, other than a little trickiness on clipping in, I like the Campy pedals better. Just my .02

I have Record pedals on my road bike and Centaur on my tri bike. THey are very comfortable over long distances (I like the large platform) and seem bombproof.

do you know what’s the diff b/w RXS and RXE? Weight/material and price?

SPD-SL pedals are the only Shimano products I have on my road or tri bikes. They are pretty damn good - great to walk in, too.

If they are a similar design to last year’s model… I hope you don’t need much float. Oh sure, they have plenty, but they self-center, so you will always have tension on your knee if your feet like to/need to point in or out a little. Now, right now you’re thinking, “Heh, what a dope, I’ll just mount my cleat slightly at an angle.” Go for it. Oh, wait, that’s right, the Time cleat can only be mounted STRAIGHT.

Two 30 miles rides and my knees were sore for a week. Back to Looks.

The RXS has adjustable float, as for the RXE have free float. Sergio rides both and can’t see the difference.

And Aztec… no, the cleats can be monted at an angle the same way Look cleats can.

great, thanks! I need two pairs, so that’ll be a nice chunk of change I’m saving. this stuff’s expensive - seriously, $40 for cleats, WTH?
