Ok so I’ve ordered my frame - size medium kuota kharma in the gloss carbon…it should be in next week (fingers crossed)
I’ve got my parts list picked out (waiting for an update with a Syntace F99 stem) and the two final things left are aerobars and pedals
I had planned to start with my mountain bike spds mainly because I dont want to have to buy another pair of shoes meaning my shimano carbon mountain shoes would collect dust (I sold my mtb to pay for my new road bike).
However, if I buy my pedals with my build kit it could save me some money later on…so whats a good budget pedal- I was thinking Time RXE or RXS (non carbon) the difference in weight between any of the new time pedals is so small that its almost inconsequential - are there any differences in features between them?
the alternative would be the speedplays zeros…
I’ve only ever had spds so I dont have much experience with them. For background sake Im a clyde pedal masher (im learning to spin…) I dont have any knee trouble (yet) and I suppose I like a secure dare I say locked in feeling pedal…
The kharma is being set up with drop bars in a road configuration - according to my measurement/fit session - I could ride the frame in a tri configuration without much change. I am looking at some clip-ons to use for sprint triathlons and the weekly time trials
Suggestions so far have been:

VT minis with “upgraded pads”

VT Clipons cut down to the right length (or bought to the correct length)

I’d like to keep the price around 150 dollars or so - so no HED, or other crazy carbon recommendations…
Also how do I measure what length I need? - if I measure according to the VT website my elbow to knuckle is 15 inches exactly…I would assume I would go with a slightly shorter bar than what they suggest since I am on a road bike…
