Pearl Izumi running shoes?

Has anyone tried out their shoes? They look very cool, and their bike clothing is excellent so I am thinking of trying a pair.

I have run in them and found them quite nice. Having said that, I can run in anything as long as it is new and low mileage.

They are easily on par with the Nikes, Sauconys, Reeboks and other footwear guys. I’ve had two pairs and they were fine.

Do you know if they are racing flats or training shoes? They claim to be seamless (I am assuming inside the shoes), have you tried them without socks?

I have a pair on right now. I use them strictly for triathlons. I have no idea if they are good running shoes, but I do love the fact that they are nearly seamless. It usually takes me several months to be able to run in a pair of shoes without socks. The adaptation period in this case was zero. I will do my second race in them tomorrow.

I would like them a lot better if they had a better loops on the back to help get them on in transition. Maybe I will add one.

I like their bike clothing as well, and in fact just today bought a new pair of PI cycling shoes (the “Vortex” model) to go with my new SPD-R pedals.

Never tried their new line of running shoes, but the reviews I’ve read are mixed. In fact, the owner of my local running store, who carries PI clothing and shoes, steered me away from the running shoes last fall.

The only issue I had was that the heel sits slight higher than the forefoot and that typically gives me knee problems. That was my own personal issue, but if you don’t mind that feel (it is supposed to make you feel like you are moving forward and thus faster) then it should be fine. It seemed like a high quality shoe when I tried it out.
