I just visited the Pearl Izumi website and was checking out their new line of running shoes. After searching the archives here, there have not been a whole lot of recent posts regarding these shoes. Does anyone have them? What is your opinion and or thoughts? I have been in the running shoe purgatory for some time now and am looking for solid shoe to train in and race in.
Pearl has a great site by the way very user friendly and informative.
I’m not trying to hijack the thread or anything, but I’d also look at the new Nike Kukuni. Velcro pull straps, pull tabs on heel and tongue, seriously light, flexible as a racing flat, cushioned as a lightweight trainer, and very breathable. I just picked up a pair of them, intending them as fast trainers, but after running a few times in them, I’m definitely going to race in them. My wife thinks they’re a little flashy (I got the yellow ones), but they certainly look good with my team uniform of red and yellow. I’m not usually a big fan of Nike but every once in a while they get something right for us runners. The Kukuni is a serious contender for best triathlon racing shoe.
I have seen them, and tried them on, but have not used them. They look as cool in person as they do in the photo. If you are in need of a detailed report, I suggest you get in touch with Tom Demerly concerning this matter. Bikesport@ameritech.net, or wait for him to post a reply.
