PC o'clock. Time to sink or swim

I won some PC’s at IMFL (thanks Frank) and have only used them sporadically. I put them on a second bike, rode the trainer with them 5-6 times, but when I sold the bike, I packed them away.

Today I had them put on my one and only bike for at least the next month until my next race. Should be interesting. At the very least, this should get me to the pool more often…

I rode mine 1.5 hours yesterday for the first time outside this year. It’s no big deal, once you get used to it. Seems like I heard someone say that about eating grasshoppers…

Last year was my first season on PC’s and I was up to 1 to 1.5 hr mark pretty quickly. However, I found the fun really started between the 2 and 3 hour mark. I never was able to really get to 3+ hours comfortably. Any ride nearing 3 hours ended in agony and me alternatly pushing the pedals one leg at a time for the last part of the ride. Mental? Perhaps, I guess we’ll find out in the weeks/months to come.

asd99, RE: the three hour mark being mental? Nah. It’s physical. Those muscles really are out of sufficient energy stores to keep working at the rate you want them to work. For you, it’s three hours; for many beginners, it is 2 minutes (I remember it well). If you will allow yourself some time, you’ll be able to push on out past three hours…especially in light of the fact that you progressed so rapidly.
