Is that the Paul Gompers who ran in the 88 Olympic trials?
I can remember him pushing the pace into the wind, with tall Ed Eyestone right behind him and the rest of the lead pack right behind him.
Nice to see him back into athletics. The rest of the M 45-49 field should be worried. Dude can run even out of shape. Judging from prelim results he isn’t too shabby swimming and cycling either.
I’m guessing that’s him. He’s a prof. at Harvard B-school, and the results list him as being from Newton, MA.
Yep, that’s him… unfortunately he has aged up to my AG this year and he will be also racing St Croix.
He pretty much destroyed our AG at NO, about 20 minutes ahead of 2nd place. Fastest run split of anyone over 35 years old.
However, his run split was exactly 2 minutes per mile slower than his half marathon PR time - he obviously can’t run off the bike!
