Patrick Lange Takes Third IRONMAN World Title

There is almost no media coverage on Roth, the current landscape doesn’t discourage great fields from being assembled because Roth has paid solid appearance fees for ages. The prize purse however is small. So if Felix wants to attract more people to his race that prize purse has to go up and now he has to fight T100.

On media coverage, how do I even watch that race? At least with Nice I know where to go. If Felix wants Roth to be more than it is (and it’s huge for Europe) then he needs to do more than fund “We are Triathletes” which came out what, three or four years after the race it covered?

So you mention Ditlev’s race, but even I as a Triathlon nerd had no clue. Roth is fast, Roth also distorts things in worse ways than Kona as it basically has perfect conditions and is meant to be fast. So the Roth times will be fast.

I honestly don’t know from a race course perspective what you would change for a World Championship venue. Swim course that can be impacted by surf but not so much that you have to shorten for the amateur, hilly enough bike with solid climbs, run with multiple hills.

Nice has a swim course that could get cancelled. Bike course that has been relatively dangerous with tighter turns, more technical turns (cars on it this year, so not totally closed); and a pancake flat run.

So where would you go for a course that has pretty decent weather and not cold water in October?

Your continued willingness to show your ignorance is really something special. Where do I watch Roth live, well maybe I should check out the Challenge Family YouTube channel?Seems sensible to me.
Felix is doing very well with his race and doesn’t need to expand and fight any other race production company.

“distorts” “things” wtf
You have been spending too much time slagging off the PTO on here and taken your self confessed nerdy eye off the main full distance race of the summer.
Edit: Other than the IMWC whether in Nice or elsewhere, it’s the premier race of the year. Of course now we have the T100 races, those are more competitive, but shorter, so grab significant attention.

You thinking I’m ignorant is the problem. You thinking my opinion isn’t valid is though. Roth doesn’t have the same buzz as Kona, that is a fact. I’m not focused on it every year, I can bet that you also are not, however, good to know that it is Free to watch on Youtube.

@Ajax_Bay you buffeted @kajet saying that Kona distorts things. So now we’re getting argumentative. My point about Roth distorting things because conditions are almost perfect for new records every year should be as valid as Kona being hot.

From the man himself…

How can an ideal almost “perfect” venue “distort things”? The baseline is ‘perfection’ (and I’m not advocating or condoning moto-drafting). If the sea can be rough or there’s an adverse or beneficial (Cozumel et al) current or it’s silly hilly (Bolton) or silly hot/humid or too hot water, THAT’S “distorting things”.
Nope: I was agreeing with @kajet and quoted their concern verbatim when addressing the flocculent use of “fluid” describing race conditions. I said:
" “race conditions are fluid” Well if you mean they’re different then fine, but the point @kajet made was that Kona is an extreme of acceptable environmental conditions for racing.
Kona really distorts what it means to be the best compared to almost any other triathlon in the world.
Fortunately at least /fortuitously we have Nice to offer some balance. And Roth."

Why Germans are Good in the Heat

I think the uber bikers needed a harder day from a wind perspective. When the speed/velocity is that high, it’s hard to get the separation they are looking for.

This usually came from the Frodo/Kienle/Lionel fan club, the same ppl were always happy to see Lionel and Kienle ‘work together’ to get to the front on the bike!
