Patrick Lange running Berlin Half Marathon....and he looks fat :-)

3 minutes off the elite women’s course record in his off season… Probably biked to the start line too… He can run!

When I saw Patrick at the 14 km point he was literally jogging easy with an impeccable gait and barely breathing. In contrast the guys around him were on the rivet and in complete discomfort. This looked like an easy training run for him and he did look around 15 lbs chunkier than the runners around him. The guy has a massive engine in that body when he’s hauling around that much weight compared to a real runner (who would be 125 lbs at his height, not 140 lbs+). You can actually literally “see” how this guy can bike that fast with such a tiny “TTer” body (vs his “massive pure runner body”). I believe Faris said that Patrick’s target wattage in Kona is 4W per kilo to race with the front pack which puts the guy’s FTP around 5W per kilo…at 63 kilos that’s a 315W FTP…and that’s out of a body that jogs a 1:09 half marathon overweight in the off season.
