PATCO Dallas this year - Rio qualifier?

Just noticed a blurb about the PATCO Dallas race this year in the most recent USAT magazine. Can’t remember the exact quote, but they said something to the effect that it might be one of the first qualifying races for Rio '16. Anyone know anything about this? It seems pretty early in the cycle to lock people in - 2015 makes more sense to me, but the article seemed pretty specific that it was this year’s.

Also interesting because it directly conflicts with the London WTS event.

I’d assume you’d have to do something pretty special like win the race. Thoughts? Insider info?

It’s not a direct qualifier this year. It’s within the qualifying cycle so it helps but isn’t the big patco race that gives auto spot to country who wins this particular event.

That makes sense - probably not until 2016 for the auto spot, right? However the article made it sound like USAT was using it as an internal qualifier. Probably a typo or misstatement?

What’s weird if that truly is the case Groff, hursey and GJ are going to be in London. So I don’t think this patco is truly the federation qualifier. I think that will be late 2015 or early early 2016.
