Patagonia sues Pattie Gonia

Ideology vs business. Weird times.

So stupid.

The social media commentary on this is bonkers.

The left has a rare talent for cannibalization.

Agree. The comment sections are eye opening. There is no way to please a fairly large percentage of the population.

Patagonia pretty much had to sue. Failing to ā€œpoliceā€ their trademark could have serious consequences. The complaint is quite mild.

If by ā€œthe complaintā€ you mean the $1 and legal fees, I agree. I don’t speak lawyer. I agree that they kind of had to sue. It’s like in 2008 when The North Face sued The South Butt when whomever it was used the NF image (the curvy shapes) as a parody.

In legalese, the complaint refers to the legal document that initially sets forth what the plaintiff is suing for. A copy is here:

The $1 and legal fees are less important. The key to Patagonia would be a ruling that its trademark is being infringed and to block the registration of Pattie’s proposed trademark.

ah, thanks.

I think the $1 and legal fees are a reasonable ask from patagucci.

This. They had to. Infringement is pretty blatant. They don’t really ā€˜want’ anything other than for it to stop.

Its nothing like Microsoft suing Mike Rowe, a kid, who registered mikerowesoft.com that was just a dick move. Corporate world is full of BS trademark infringement notices, so much so that certain people immediately side against the corp if they see or hear of another one.
