Although I can’t stand the University of Tennessee, you have to admire this Lady and her accomplishments. She single-highhandedly changed the scope of women BB in this country.

She had the vision and was the driving force, but, she had a great deal of help from assistant coaches and many very talented athletes.

Why can’t people just call Alzheimer’s ‘Alzheimer’s’? There are other causes of dementia, but reading between the lines it sounds like this is a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s

Can you make a clinical diagnosis of Alzheimers? I thought that it had to be postmortem…

because the only definitive way to diagnose alzheimers is done post-mortem by looking at slices of the brain under a microscope.

True enough, but diagnoses are nevertheless made when the symptoms are consistent with Alzheimers and there is no other apparent cause.

You don’t ask people to not hold pity parties unless you’ve been given really bad news.

Growing up a Stanford fan I have always had hate/hate feelings towards this woman. This is such a horrible disease and so difficult for someone to deal with. Unfortunately, it is downhill from here. She has made a huge impact on women’s BB and on the players she has coached. Her legacy will far outlive her. I wish her and those that will need to care for her the best.

here is a stat that gets little mention. all coaches should ask how she gets this done…

Coach Summitt has a 100 percent graduation rate for all Lady Vol student-athletes who have completed their eligibility at Tennessee.

That AND over 1,000 wins.

Remarkable.

The scary part is she could still live another 40 years.
