Pat Griskus Olympic Tri - Wave Starts - Tetsuoni?

So at this point for Saturday’s race I think JM, aka Tetsuoni, has a good chance for the overall win and he’s 40+. I would much prefer to have the overall winner cross the line first but had planned to send 39 under in first wave.

Thoughts on this?

John Hirsch, Mitch West, reggiedog is out, maybe Chris Thomas, haven’t heard from Sherwood or Halstaed,
Eric Hodska possible… we’ll see who shows, either way, going to be a good day to race.

-Tom

Send out Tetsuoni’s wave first , so he’s first across the line, unless Sherwood shows, then send his wave first…

Tesuoni is racking up the sprint wins , but Alex is one fast all arounder!!!

Chris Thomas won, with John Hirsh 2nd, Mitch West 3rd, and myself, Tetsuoni, 4th, 8 seconds out of third.

Being in a later wave is no excuse (i.e. I don’t think starting in the first wave would have changed the order of finish), but it does make the race for the overall tricky, when the women and clydesdales start 3 minutes ahead and really congest the swim course and bike course.

However, there were several over 40 guys near me, so it’s only fair we start in the same wave. It’s the USAT way, for which they have sound reasons.

The race was extremely well organized, with an awesome course. I felt very safe, even with no course knowledge, due to the solid police presence at every intersection.

Cheers.

We could have started men 40+ second wave, likely change that up next year. Glad you enjoyed Tetsuoni, what a great behind the scenes performance by all race staff. a few regular players were not on hand this year and caused a few gaps in coverage, but overall a good day.
thanks to all who raced or volunteered, what a pleasure to have such a quality group of people to work with/for.

21st annual sprint coming up Wed July 11th, 6pm start. CT and midweek racing… somehow, it works.

Tom-

Is there any chance that this race will not be wetsuit legal?

On that note, congratulations on the overall win at the NYTri Series 1 sprint at Harriman yesterday.

Too bad it took a little while to recognize that you won. Then again, a 7:xx swim split for a half mile swim would have been damn impressive. I have to say that having wave starts with everyone wearing the same swim caps and using the honor system didn’t seem like a bright idea at the time. I would expect a minumum of 3-6 people to be too confused to know which wave they belonged in, and to subsequently go off in the wrong wave.

hey, the '07 post resurrected?

i’d give it a highly unlikely we’d warm up that much, that water was quite cold just a week ago and its a fairly deep lake.

tetsuoni, if you’re reading, i thought you were registered when i talked to you at pawling.

see you sat eganski.

I figured that resurrecting it would get a response…is there an entry list?

don’t have one posted, Chris Thomas, Ian Ray, Wolfgang Ermeling, Ray Houle, yourself, look like the top mens talent so far.
Last years womens winner Jeannet Shelow Macdougal, Pascale Butcher…

“How about Fletch?”…

“How about Fletch?”…

“You know, this gritty kid from the streets of Harlem really creates excitement. Fletch has been great. He’s super-strong, really clogs the middle for us, boxes out, gets the bounds…”

The Lakers could really use a guy like Fletch right now being down 2-0 and their front court looking kind of weak.

he’s 6’3", 6’6" with the afro…

i hear that slayer moved to maine cause he was scared of the competition…that and his mommy kicked him out of the house finally…

not to mention those crap signs he made have all fallen apart…you know the signs, the ones he just HAD to tell the newspaper reporter that he made…''those were my signs, i made them"…

“So what do you say Fletch… you’d me doing me and my family a huge favor: will you kill me?..”

“Sure”.

I moved just to get away from the mentally challenged adult who mistakenly has been put in charge of the most dangerous turn on the bike course.

Good help is just hard to find nowadays…

Park, thanks. Once the splits were posted, it was pretty obvious. I’m just glad the car that went the wrong way on Tiorati Circle didn’t make me a hood ornament.

Funny how you managed to work this into a year old string on another race. Then again, Murphy tells me you’re a funny guy.

Good job whooping my ass in the swim yesterday. Are you sure you were in the right wave?

Tom, at Pawling I was still on the fence about the Olympic Tri, but it won’t fit into my schedule this year. I’m bummed; it’s an awesome race.

However, I’m pretty sure I’ll make the sprint race.

no worries, you’ll be on the short list of guaranteed entry for the sprint, hope it works out be good to have you.

great meeting that murphy’s law charachter too post pawling, t durden as well.

anyone interested, looking like there will be race day reg for the olympic this saturday after all…weather looks good, everything coming together, should be a good time, peak organic brewing with the cold micro brew post race.

good luck to all registered.
-Tom

Nice meeting you as well.

Wish I could come out and play this Sat, but I’m already registered for a little local race here in town.

Good luck, hope you have a terrific race! I’ve heard nothing but great things about it from everybody who’s ever done it.
-M

didn’t even mind so much taking the dnf with the groin injury (that sounds so bad) at pawling to meet and hang with you crazies for a bit. we’ll see you one of these years i’ll bet. kill it this saturday…

oh yeah meant to mention i was laughing to myself during the bike at pawling at your “getting your shrug on” comment you made in some thread here, i knew exactly what that meant, i do it myself.
self selected, self morphed bike position…lol…
