Getting passports for children today. Noted on one of their birth certificates that my wife’s middle name is spelled wrong. Does this really matter?
Are you going through a government-approved source or that guy who keeps posting stuff on the forum who will get you stuff for cheap?
Government approved. Though it is the Canadian government.
No idea. How hard is it to get the birth cert corrected?
On a side note, my daughter’s passport and birth cert don’t match, it’s never been an issue. Passport says KY for birthplace, she has a TN birth cert. I was stationed at Ft. Campbell, KY when she was born; the base straddles the 2 states and the hospital is on the TN side.
about $25 dollars and 2 weeks.
I told my wife to apply for it as His name is accurate on both.
If you have any problems going the legal route, this guy will hook you up! ![]()

Minor passports expire after 5 years so you could correct it then
It might. My dad’s last name was misspelled on his birth certificate and if I remember correctly he had to contact the courthouse in the town where he was born to get a corrected birth certificate to get his passport. This was about 5 years ago and my dad is 80 years old, so the process was a little complicated and I don’t know if part of the challenge was because he wasn’t born in a hospital so it was difficult getting accurate records. I don’t remember everything he had to do to finally be able to apply for his passport, but it was fairly complicated in his case. However, after a couple months he was finally able to get his passport and a corrected birth certificate. It might not be as big of a deal though since it’s your wife’s middle name that’s misspelled, not your child’s name.
