Is using the kevlar rim-strip, Panaracer “Flat-Liner” overkill with Conti GP4000 tires? I’m running the 4k’s for IM Wisc., a LBS pitched me on the Flat-Liners, had never heard of them. Sounds like a good product, but necessary?

It’s just extra weight to be spinning around. Personally I ride superlight tires to lessen the mass moment of inertia (rotating weight). Tubes are cheap, and rarely flat. Save the money and just buy some extra tubes. I’ve ridden my GP4000 for about a year for commuting. Tons of broken glass and thorns but only 1 flat the whole time.
