I’m heading to norcal for a few days to visit a buddy, wanted to know of any trail runs, or good places to grab a swim workout in the area…any insight would be marvelous.

Swim at Stanford. http://masters.stanford.edu for the workout times. Just tell the coach on the deck that you’re in town for a few days and they will most likely let you swim for free. It’s currently the largest aquatic facility in the US. If you happen to swim on M or W evening or F or Sat morning look for me in th 1:25 lane and say “hi”.

Lots of trail runs in the area too. Where exactly are you staying? For a trail run close to Stanford check out the Stanford Dish loop which is paved but some nice altitude gain. For some good trail runs in the area head just down 280 to Rancho San Antonio park or up near Woodside to Huddart Park. Another good place is Edgewood Park located off of 280 and Edgewood Rd., right near Canada Rd. Canada Rd. is also good as you can run on a dirt path next to the road. A little closer to Palo Alto is Windy Hill and the Arastradero Preserve. Google any of the places mentioned and you should find maps or reviews of the trails.

Stop by the store or call if you want need more info or want to check out any gear. Have fun, the weather is perfect right now with the warm days and cool evenings.

try the trails at either Huddart Park or the “Dish”. Just ask at one of the running shops and they can tell you how to get there. Metrosport is on El Camino Real right accross from Stanford.
