More discussion of the HITS triathlon has come up and I wondered how Palm Springs would be in December for a race. It’s a desert region and temperatures average with a high of 70F/21C and a low of 44F/6.5C. The swim is in a lake and I’ve seen temperatures according to WetSuitRental in the mid 60s for the water in March, but that’s not December.
I’m excited to see their inaugural race. Any word on any pros or anyone here registered?
there’s not a lake in Palm Springs. LaQuinta is only a few miles away from there anyways. Did the desert tri there this year, I like the venue, roads are country roads, not heavily trafficked.
It’s a couple miles from my house now, and the weather should be great for a race that time of year. Might need a long sleeve for the bike, but that would be about it. Don’t think any pros will be there, unless they have lately put up a prize purse. Hard enough for them to do all the races they need to to make a living, no room for just fun races without any payout.
It should be a fun race for local so cal peeps, but don’t imagine many from the snowy/cold spots in the country will be interested. Of course if they do it right, that means they are drawing from a very large area and triathlete population…
