Pain

I got stopped in Town by someone handing out flyers about heaven and reincarnation. I asked him if there was Pain and suffering in heaven and he said of course not. So if there is no pain and suffering there cannot be any cycling there. If there is no cycling I am not sure I want to go.

“To be a cyclist is to be a student of pain…at cycling’s core lies pain, hard and bitter as the pit inside a juicy peach. It doesn’t matter if you’re sprinting for an Olympic medal, a town sign, a trailhead, or the rest stop with the homemade brownies. If you never confront pain, you’re missing the essence of the sport. Without pain, there’s no adversity. Without adversity, no challenge. Without challenge, no improvement. No improvement, no sense of accomplishment and no deep-down joy. Might as well be playing Tiddly-Winks.” – Scott Martin

yeah, but if you’re playing tiddly-winks real hard core, you can get one in your eye. that hurts.

Not if you where goggles as recommend in Health and safety regulation: 14857038c

true. my big brother and I played “full-contact tiddly winks” when we were kids and eye protection and lacross gear would have been useful. we also played “full contact basketball” with a tennis ball instead of a basketball. I never wanted to play, and was pretty much held hostage and pummelled. oh, the joy.
