Paddleboarding (1)

A week or so ago there was a write up on the homepage about Roch or Huddle, I honestly cant remember and cant seem to find it, doing some sort of crazy long paddleboard event in Hawaii. Wondering what the results of that race were if anyone knows them

I saw Roch, Paula Newby_Frasier, Scott Tinley and a few other IM Pro types at a paddleboard race in Encinitas this summer. All the ex pros in the area are paddling. It is a nice way to get a great workout. Mostly the same muscles as swimming but you don’t have to get too wet. Paddleboarding seems to be booming here in SOCAL.

thanks.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but does anybody here paddleboard in leu of swimming, on occasion at least?

I’ve been thinking of purchasing a board myself. Anyone recommend a manufacturer I should look into?

how dare you hijack this thread!! just kidding. i found my answer.
i dont know anything about paddleboarding but it looks like lots of fun.
I did a small sprint tri/du about a month ago and they had someone out on a paddleboard. I was amazed at how thick those boards are. i had no idea. looks like fun

Now the new paddleboard is the stand up kind. You sure can see a lot more standing than kneeling or laydown.

I tried out a few in Belize a couple of months ago. I liked the Laird Hamilton signature ones the best of those I tried. I tried a wider one that was easier to learn on, but once I got the hang of that I tried a thinner one that was faster. I really enjoyed the workout.
