My wife and I were on a Xmas morning run. I came up on a guy with a Pacific Coast Tri shirt. We had a short conversation in which he said the 07 race is canceled. I went to the web site and it said the 07 race is 9/9/07. Anyone have any info?
Bob, do you have a name to go with that t-shirt? You can email Bill Leach, I’m sure he’ll be honest with you. I felt and stated in the past that Pac Coast would go away and be replaced with the Irvine Lake event. Pac Coast has outgrown its venue and costs a lot to run - some $40,000 just to use the parking lot. This past event, the numbers were down, but it appeared more crowded on the bike. The problem was actually way more mountain bikes than I’ve seen before and a lot of beginners with no concept of the rules - hence my penalty for drafting while trying to find a path through the lane-wide gauntlet of a-holes. If I do it again, I’m going in the elite wave just for a clean run at it (at least one lap of the bike). Won’t be any awards for me, but I don’t care that much about it any more.

No name just some guy on the bike path. He said they could not get the permit for the bike leg. I remembered you guys posted about the problems with the race. I still wanted to do it one time. Irvine tri would be nice if they can get a permit for the swim. I emailed Bill today about PC. I did not think to ask about Irvine.
that would really suck. I planned on doing well in that race next year. If there will be no Pacific Coast in 07 I bet that LA Tri will fill up very fast.
