P4 will have water bottle adapter for training rides

Non-news in my opinion (but Slowtwitch has been slow) since you could do bottles behind the saddle or one on the aerobars but it’s kind of interesting that Cervelo is thinking about other things to do with the water bottle slot.

I stopped by the Cervelo e-ride thing at ATC this afternoon and heard it from one of the Cervelo guys. Lots of shiny Cervelos and I had a chance to chat about build options (SRAM might be a hair ahead of new Dura-Ace but the Dura-Ace cranks are awesome, 3T CF road bars are sweet, swapping the SRAM red cog to a Shimano cog makes the drivetrain quieter). Besides the aero difference, he said the P4 feels a little stiffer in the bottom bracket vs. P3 but otherwise rides the same. And the all black P4 looks awesome in person.

Do you mean it will have water bottle mount holes on one of the tubes?

And how do you swap an SRAM cog to a shimano cog? Do you mean swap a cog to a cassette?

The P4 already has holes in I think both the seat and downtube. I interpreted the comment to mean there would be a water bottle holder that used the same holes that the aero water bottle holder used, but this new holder would work with standard large water bottles.

Err, you’re right. I meant to say “swap the SRAM cassette for a Shimano cassette and the drivetrain is a quieter”. Apparently the hollow SRAM cassette is the source of noise. Alternatively, you could drill two holes into the SRAM cassette and fill it with foam (he seriously said that). Actually sounds like a fine solution to me if it works and you like tinkering.

Or you could just set up the rear der properly and the 1090 chain Red cassette combo will not make any noise. I battled the noisy drive on my new road set up for about 15miles and put the bike back on the stand and setup the rear according to the directions and have had no noise issues since.

Could you elaborate on what adjustment you can make at the rear derailleur that would make this difference? You don’t have a lot of adjustment to make except a barrel adjustment to align the derailleur with the cogs…and a spring tension adjuster I’d presume.
