Ok, for you cervelo owners, I was doing computrainer intervals last night, and every time I went above 300w I got this heavy creaking noise as I was pedaling. It was loud and unique enough that when my wife came home she immediately asked - what’s that noise??
Any thoughts appreciated- yes I’m prob going to take it to gearwest very soon to have them check it out, but was just wondering if some you smart folks thought it’d be more related to bottom bracket or the cranks? or something else? I am not expert on bike problems.
Loose BB
Loose crank bolts or chainring bolts
Loose seatpost clamp (at frame or at saddle) or set-bolt that holds the seatpost head onto the post
Worn out pedals
Bike noises are like crickets. They’re not always where they sound like they are.
Check all the things that Artmus suggested, but also check the skewers in your wheels. Just open the quick releases, readjust them a bit and re-close them.
Also, do you experience this on the road? Could it be something in the computrainer and not on the bike?
thanks for all the advice, I appreciate. I rode the wisconsin course this past weekend and did not notice/hear anything (though rain pelting my aero helmet pretty much blocked any other noises). However, it is specific when I start pushing more watts- so to me those loose “things” that artmus suggested might be it. It did not happen at 200w, just going north of 300. I really want to get it figured out since ironman wisconsin is 18days away!
Thats what I was just about to say, I had that problem with my soloist, I greased the sweat post and it stopped, but any time I ride in the rain…which is all the time in New Mexico, it comes back and I have to grease again.
Do you have a 2 piece, FSA style carbon crankset. I had noise I could not figure out, finally I put a set of Ultegra Cranks on noise went away. We greased the FSA cranks where the spider bolts to the crank arm and the noise went away.
