P3C + rear bottle holder and spare kit Qs

Whooooppppeeee!!! I picked up my P3C (54) this morning. It is beautiful - too bad it is raining all day today.

I spent some time today trying to replicate my fit and set up from my origional 2000 P3. Switching from Syntace to Vision bars may take some time and a bit of fiddling - any suggestions appreciated.

My real question is that with my seat in the far forward position the Minuora bottle holder won’t go on b/c it hits the rear position seat bracket. For the same reason, the spare tire mini bag won’t fit either. Any suggestions or solutions for these little quirks are appreciated.

Thanks,

I have an X-lab saddle wing on mine but that gets in the way so I am now fitting a X-lab flat wing apart from them I am yet to see any other system that will fit dut to style of seatpost.

So, you are saying that the flatwing does work w/ that rear seat bracket in the way? I was wondering if I could cut the rear circle off since I’ll never ride in the rear position.

Yes a flat wing will work as it grabs your saddle rails from the side not the rear. You could probably cut the rear loop off I have thought about that too but could not bring myself to do it. Best to check with cervelo if there is an issue with doing that, though if you only cut the loop I cannot see a problem.

I have put a Flat wing on my P3C in the fwd position. I recently changed to a Tacx holder and it works as well. I am using a Fizik Arione saddle.

I also used standard bottle cages and was able to rig the saddle bag to them. The saddle bag fit much nice on the Flat Wing, but I like the Tacx as it is more compact and put the bottles closer to the saddle.

I couldn’t get your link to the picture of the Flatwing, but did look on a couple of vendor sites…how does all that other stuff work - ie the X-nut, X strap etc? Do you use all of that?

BTW, I am seriously thinking about trying to cut off the rear circle - Gerard, if you are lurking, is that advisable, and if so how should I do it?

Thanks,

I also have the flatwing with the fizik arione in the forward position. It seems to work fine. I’m using a tufo tubular bag (fairly large). I’ve got the velcro strap threaded through the rear seatpost loop, and the other straps threaded through the bottle cages. Works pretty well. I’ve got the x-nut on, but not the x-strap. For my race a couple of weeks ago, I took the bag off. I stuck my spare tire in one of the rear bottle cages (used the other for water, of all things). I put my CO2 inflator and cartriges on the x-nut, and I used electrical tape to tape a valve extender and a crack pipe to the inside of the flatwing. The set up was pretty clean, but I haven’t yet decided what I’ll do for IM.
