P3C or Blade . . . Tom D or Herbert?

OK guys . . . given the choice of P3C or Litespeed Blade . . . what are the pros/cons . . . can anyone “compare” the two (I know, impossible to compare b/c P3C not out yet) . . . but give me some insight . … The Price Breaks/Trade-In deal/Free Wheels deal on the litespeeds are hard to pass up. Also, difference between Blade and Saber? Many Thanks.

No, I can’t compare the two. One does not exist yet. The other is readily available.

If you email me your questions regarding the blade or saber I’ll be glad to help. Regarding the P3C versus the Blade, I have extensice experience on the Blade and have only seen the prototype P3C. Thus any comments from me other then looks of the P3C would be quite inappropriate.
Hope this finds you well.

Now, that’s easy!

The Blade is made of titanium while the P3C is a carbon bike. I do have a Blade and I also have a Trek carbon bike. I have several thousands of kilometers on both bikes - I prefer titanium which is also much more durable. As far as frame shape is concerned I like the look of the Blade better and therefore if there would be a P3 made of titanium I’d still take the Blade.

Frank

I have both a carbon and ti bike and feel just the opposite, but they are both sweet rides.

The P3C is vaporware… the only one I saw was not even touching the ground

but you did see one right…too bad you didn’t get a pic…kind of like the Loch Ness monster…or bigfoot…they might exist but no one knows for sure
.

I saw one down in Oceanside, beautiful bike. But I think it was a prototype, gerard can tell us if that one is ridable or not.

the overwhelming pro of the blade is that you might be able to race on it this year.

the chances of you seeing a p3c in your hands this season are virtually nil.

I even touched it!! I don’t have a picture though. I thought it was one cool ride (again I believe this was the prototype) the seat stays were massive. But really, it was interesting like a concept car is interesting. I won’t pay any attention until these things are actually produced. What’s the point otherwise? It cracks me up that people are actually “buying one” at this point. Then again maybe I’ll get one, complete with a Syntace Blackbird.

Styntace Blackbird AND a P3C???..HAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHA…HAHHHAHAHAHAHAAA

ok i’m done…whew! that was a good one…

To be fair, the latest cervelo newsletter did say that the 56 cm P3C’s would be to the dealers in April. Whether or not that is true, I don’t know.

You obviously don’t know what you’re talking about.

I have spoken with people inside Cervelo during the last week who confirmed the first P3C’s in size 56cm would become available starting in April. That means the project is on schedule as depicted originally by Cervelo.

I suspect retailers that placed their orders when the bike was announced (i.e., Interbike 2004) will be recieving them shortly- at least that is the information I have at this time, and I believe it to be accurate.

about cervelo, i know nothing but what i see here, this is true. about bike production and carbon and lead times for getting products to market, i know enough. remember you couldn’t get an audi tt for 12 months after they hit the market or the first iPod was a 6 month wait. i doubt a guy with no connections is going to get his hands on a production version of the p3c within 3 months of its release. the line is too long already.

Bryan:

My apologies for my previous post, that was out of line. But I think you’ll see in the next three months that it was not entirely incorrect.

Gerard.

Your sitting on the hottest production bike the tri world may have ever seen. I sincerely hope everything with the launch goes smoothly (it’s good for the world of triathlon), but nothing this big ever goes as expected.

You did not need to apologize to me. I did not take it personally.

One of the many very nice things about Bryan is that he is the first to admit that he obviously doesn’t know what he is talking about. His co-workers, friends and family will admit this, too, without the least bit of prompting! Even strangers seem to know it instinctively.

shouldn’t you be tapering or something?

your deal to speak at my wedding is offically off.

you still owe me $5. now can we let this topic, get back on topic?
