P3C bulbous headtube vs. P4 traditioanal headtube

I was just looking at some pics and noticed the P4 does not have the rounded, bulbous headtube like the P3. The P4 actually looks more like a traditional headtube front. I am not an engineer type, but the rounded P3 just looks like it would cause less drag.

Does anyone know if it is just a function of the overall frame design, or will the bulbous front end of the P3 become obsolete over time?

There was speculation about the ease of putting an integrated front end on a straight front end vs. a bulbous one.

yes i remember this rumour. Gerard answered it personally IIRC. The P4 haters must be so disappointed.

Don’t you mean “brake”?

I asked Gerard that right after interbike…

He said it didn’t loose it, it is now full length of the head tube.

I think you can see it in this pic (cribbed from competitive cyclist) that shows the gap from leading edge to steerer:

which is supported by cervelo’s own image:

(looks thicker in front)

and in the 58 in my garage thread:

see the section from the top cap to the leading edge of the headtube?

which BTW, makes the headtube look a LOT like what the parlee ht looks like…hmmmm^tm.
