Hello All,
There has been some discussion about the wheel clearances for the P3C and P4.
On my P3C the chain stay clearance is 3.5mm each side on the 808 thickest part, the ‘bulge’, and the 808 measures 24.5mm at the ‘bulge’.
I am thinking about getting a Zipp 1080 clincher for the rear.
I don’t want my Zipp 1080 to be obsolete when I get my new P4 because it rubs on the chainstays.
Zipp states:
The 1080 clincher is 0.20mm wider than the 808 clincher at its widest part and this is closer to the dropout. We have received NO reports of 1080 interference with P4, but I strongly suggest you fit a 1080 to YOUR bike before you purchase, as there is considerable variation in chainstay frame specs.
Regards
Denham
Hello Neal,
Thank you for your interest in Cervélo. The effective rear triangle tolerances of the of both your P3C and new P4 are the same.
That means that any wheel compatible with your existing bike will be fully compatible with the P4.
The 1080 has very little clearance on the P3C but can be used very effectively provided that the user rides fluidly and is not flexing the wheel.
Your description of your riding style seems to fit that bill.
To be totally sure, my advice is to speak with your dealer about the possibility of test riding a 1080 on your P3C.
Thank you for your support.
Sincerely
Tim
