Hi, I am interested in a new tri bike and I would love some guidance. I have been riding a 52’ kestrel from 2006 and I want to upgrade and get a bike that fits me and is fast. I am 5’4" and have had my heart set on the BMC TM01 but have had difficulty finding any stores that have a S. The MS is just a little tall. Well it fits but completely maxed out at the lowest levels. I tried the cervelo p3 today in 48’ and it fit well, there was room for adjustments, I actually raised the seat! I prefer the look of the BMC and the fact that not everyone at the race will have it, but it is hard to buy a bike that they ‘think’ should fit (TM01) for more money. I have absolutely no interest in dropping to a 650 wheel size bike, so please don’t suggest that. I am an experienced rider and am ok with the semi-aggressive/aggressive fit on either bike. Oh! I am also thinking about doing ultegra di2.
I would appreciate any assistance on this topic. Thank you in advance.
The fit on them is fairly similar. The bmc is .5cm shorter in stack and 1cm longer in reach. So IF the P5 really was a good fit, chances are good the BMC should be pretty good as well.
Cervelos are fast and have good support. If it fits better, seems like a no brainer. And wouldn’t the P3 also be cheaper than the tm01?
Get the Cervelo, put money saved towards wheels!
They’re both great rides. I would say go with the bmc if you find one that fits just cause that bike is tight af like iced out lol, I drove a bit to get my dream machine. Depends on if the money is an issue too, I would like a bmc but I’d probably end up with the cervelo cause i don’t blow money on ice lol
I am sorry but at 5’4" 650c is probably the right choice, the people around that height with aggressive positions have a pad stack of less than 510. I would imagine it would be hard to get an actual aggressive fit on either one of those, other than the 45 P3, but you for some reason do not want that one. Maybe a P3 in 48 with an ergo stem would work, maybe.
