P3 commuter bike

Just finished building this bike today and thought I share it with the forum.

That’s a cool shot, man. I dig it.

Sweet shot! How much does that bike weigh?

thanks, it rides super nice 53x15 gearing 14.12lbs weight
.

I hope you never have to ride into a headwind or up a hill.

wow… very nice, nice picture taking too, did you have to lug that stand out with you? and you can probably take it down to 13. something if you change out that saddle, stem and bars

Good photo.

Some observations/questions:

  1. Times Square… so you live in or near downtown NYC, yes?
  2. If so, how do you handle the heckles from all the militant fixies in town when you cruise by on that??? I mean, it’s full fledged fixie, no front brake even and a carbon crank!
  3. The seat is slammed back on the rails, do you have crazy long arms?

Yes this is time square NYC! Photo was taken today. Today was the first time I took it into traffic so no comments from the militant fixies yet other than acknowledgment headshakes of some messengers. I plan on using this for running errands and transportation in town maybe some strength training in central park.
I put this together with whatever parts I had laying around. And yes I have somewhat longer arms and a shorter torso. The angle is about 73 degrees with a 120mm stem on a 56cm frame.

That’s Cristophe, owner of SBR. I imagine he’s pretty secure in his bikehood. So he has a nice store to park it in (also, times square is midtown and his store is ~ a mile north). No way do you chain that up like a normal commuter.

That is absolutely beautiful. Really. I never thought I would consider a fixie bike pjorn…

ps. And that shot is amazing. If that was my bike- that picture would be framed

That’s right, I put this baby on my shoulder anywhere I need to go inside. I have a 1970 Peugeot to chain up outside for longer periods, but as a commuter bike or just to speed around town visiting friends it’s a great bike

She’s beautiful. I concur with Jodi - I’d have that photo at least on my desktop at work to remind me just why it is that i still work (for $$ for bikes like that) ahhh sweet sweet cervelo…

Hello Christophe and All,

Gorgeous - just looking at it makes me want to take it for a spin.

After seeing some bike delivery films engaging the New York traffic would be like bull fighting on a bike.

Maybe add SL fork to make it even lighter and a Q ring for those low cadence starts.

Too bad we cannot get rid of the derailleur on all bikes and have some tiny transmission in the hub with a coaster brake.

That is one clean looking bike - and I like the é.

Cheers,

Neal
