P2k Seat post squeak?

I’m hoping somebody has solved this already before I go out of my gourd. There is a squeak somewhere in the saddle/seatpost/clamp assembly of my new P2k. I’m using my saddle off my old bike, so I know the squeak is not in the saddle itself. I can duplicate the sound by holding the bike frame and pushing/pulling the nose of the saddle. It is a popping and squeaking sound.

I’ve recently lowered the nose of the saddle a bit, is the clamp a little too tight? Should I take apart the flippable part of the seat post, grease it and put it back on?

I had a similar problem. I took the seat post out and greased it and haven’t had it since. But since the noise didn’t appear until your lowered the nose, that’s a bit odd. The best advice is to just experiement…

Tom:

just call customer service and they’ll try to help you figure out what it is.

All the Cervelo seaposts should be taken apart greased and put back together. I got a soloist and a p2k, both squeaked till i did that. Also, make sure you really tighten down those seat clamp screws. they tend to creak if you don’t. My guess would be you aren’t tight enough. When i tighten down my seat clamp it makes creaking noises as i tighten the creak out of it.

Ditto the above replies. Remove post. Apply favorite grease. Tighten clamp. No more squeak. I do mine about once a month.

You guys were right, I didn’t have the clamp tight enough. I greased it, then really wrenched on it a lot harder than I thought I should. It stopped the squeak, but over a month, the seat post slid down a couple mm. I raised it up again then turned it another half turn tighter than last time, I think that solved the problem.

Thanks

I have had the same problem, in fact I met another P2k owner with the same issue. Our problem relates to the seat clamps, essentially we could not tighten the front screw (seat post facing back, steep) so it kept squeaking. And as we continued to tighten it we would break the bolt (note we did not thread out the little knob to which the bolt screwed into that was ok) Our LBS basically ground down a little bit of the top clamp and since then no problems.

Also the copper sheath in the seat tube has to be correctly seated (and lubed) otherwise that will creak too. Found out when I changed seat height.
