I’m hoping some out there know the answer to this one. 2004 P2K frame… where the cables exit the down tube (the underside of the BB), there are two threaded holes and a round casing holder in between.
The hardware kit included two plastic cable guides. Looks like they go where the threaded holes are. On the drive side, this works, and the cable looks like it will line up to head toward the rear deraileur. The trouble is on the left side.
The threaded hole is very close to that aforementioned casing holder. It’s too close to allow the other plastic cable guide to fit (i.e., you can’t even come close to reaching the hole with the screw).
So what’s going on here? Does the P2K run cables in some unique way that I’m too dumb to figure out? SURELY you don’t run the cable through that guide – cable on metal – and up to the front deraileur??
I would suggest measuring the distance between the two holes. Cervelo (or another cervelo owner) can confirm if the spacing is correct.
To confirm, when installed, the cable guides should both have the actual guide portion (where the cable passes through) inboard of the screws. Not sure if any of this helps.

I measured… 3cm center-to-center.
I definitely can’t make the guide inboard of the screw on the non-drive side. I’d have to grind/cut off the casing guide.
Ok. Pics done. I’m puttin one on the net now. Had to clean the underside so I didn;t get some sh_t about not maintaining the bike. You will notice a rusty screw. I have several rusty screws. I don’t know why Cervelo can’t spec stainless.
Let me know if I did not get the right area. There is also the possibility that the LBS that put it together did not do it right. Anyway–please let me know what is going on, as I am going nite-nite soon.
Remember, every time I take a picture, I have to clean that part of the bike, so don’t get carried away. Bike manufacturers don’t send illustrated instruction manuals? I guess that’s a dumb question.
