Post-Breath of Life on Sunday. I had been wanting to post a photo here for a while - with the Never Reach I use for longer races, just for all the haters ![]()
Here it is with a Jetstream tank up front. It fits my stem perfectly and smoothes the airflow very nicely. The straw is actually a Never Reach bitepiece and tube on a straw from Baja Fresh. The Gu bottle behind the stem also helps eliminate the formation of a vacuum behind the stem. I hate Hammer Gel from the bottle though, I can’t seem to get any out without really cranking my head back.

The wheels I actually bought from a Slowtwitcher. The Fly in front is AMAZINGLY light and fast. The Crosswind rear does not make any of the odd sounds I’ve heard HED.3 wheels make. The hub is pretty loud though.

Saddle is a SaddleCo Flow, no matter what saddle I try I keep coming back to this one.

No tape on the bars, I switched to sillicone grips from ESI Grips after using them on my Stumpjumper for a few years. They are better on my hands than bar wrap, and actually get tackier when wet. A few pro mountain bikers use them without gloves, they’re that good.

There’s a PowerTap hiding in there. By far the best money I’ve spent in the sport aside from entry fees.

Tai gave me some good advice for installing the Nokon’s. Since the nokons only have about 100 miles on them so far, the jury is still out. The Swiss Stop brake pads worked GREAT with carbon rims though.
