P2C out of the CT

I currently have my P2C set up in my CT but I would like to put an aluminium tri bike in there instead.
Other than the P2SL, what tri bike has a similar geometry to a 51 cm P2C. I would like to set it up as close to my
P2C as possible.
I would like to pick up an aluminum tri frame on ebay cheap and build it as close as I can to my P2C.
Any suggestions would be appreciated?

You don’t have to have the same geometry. I have a roadbike on CT which is great in off season. I switch to Tri bike when coming closer to races. longer rides, intervals etc. I do them on the road bike. You may not be really comfortable in the aero position anyway so if your main concern is the steep vs slack angles get a bike with reversible seatpost or something. Doing CT sessions on a upright road bike may workout better.

a 51 Cervelo Dual has identical geometry.

If you’re never planning to ride this CT bike outdoors, then just get a Giant TCR Aero small or equivalent and a reversed setback seatpost like a Profile Fast Forward or a Thomson Elite, and a longer stem to get the required reach.

I have a P2C and a Soloist Team. Soloist on the indoor trainer works well. I actually alternate the bikes a bit.

Why wouldn't you optimally want the same geometry? Seems like a good idea to me. Wish I could afford it...

What is wrong with the P2C being in the CT?

I bet those leader frames on ebay have something in near identical geometry.

3 reasons I would like to get my P2C out of the trainer:

  1. I hear creaks and groans from my bike when I do hill repeats. I don’t know what it means but I’m not crazy about it.

  2. If I have a bike permenantly set up in the trainer I won’t have to mess with changing the trainer tire or bother with taking my bike in and out of the CT.

  3. I really won’t need my road bike anymore. I have been using the CT for about 6 weeks and the only thing I struggle with is long endurance rides over two hours. Anything else I can do on the CT. I can put an Aluminium bike in the CT and sell my road bike and make money on the deal.

cheap leader frame has very similar geo. Only parts you have to be particular about are contact points, so get same saddle, pedals and aerobars. basebar can be off mtb or cheap drops (since you shouldn’t be on basebar on CT). 9spd shimano parts will do fine for drivetrain - get them cheap off eBay. Wheels don’t need to be flash at all

Thanks Man,
Seems like I should be able to set the whole thing up for $400 or so.
Sound about right to you?

Here’s the ST stack/Reach table: http://www.slowtwitch.com/stackreach.html

If you can find a Leader frame that’s close it’ll probably be your best bet costwise.
