I carelessly knocked over my bike last night. Stupid, stupid mistake, but looked like everything was ok. Now I’m loading my it on the rack for IMLOU, and the right aerobar extension is totally loose. The only thing keeping the extension upright is the cable coming out of the bottom, there’s so much play and I don’t think there’s a mechanism for tightening it. It’s the P2C stock vision setup, I think it’s just the alloy clip ons. I don’t think these bars are meant to slide out, did I break something?
The extensions on Vision clip on bars are not adjustable (unless they’ve changed something since mine are 2 years old) so if it is moving then it is broken. I would get them replaced ASAP.
This is a known problem with these stock bars. I have the same bike and after a week had the same issue. Brought the bike back to the shop and was told that this was a manufacturing problem with the bars. They had many of these that needed to be replaced.
Well nuts. I’m at a hotel in nowhere, wv now. Anyone know any good lbs’ in Louisville that can do this asap?
you can probably buy somethinng at the IMlou expo, some of the big shops have tents there.
Same thing happened to my friend going over a bump while in aero. Shop glued them as a temp fix about 3 months ago. He has done CdA and multiple other races since then and all is fine. I think he’s going to wait until winter to get them replaced.
So try some crazy good glue :).
Crazy glue huh…I still want to take it to a shop and get it looked at. I called the first one that google maps turned up, and they had to ask me what aerobars were…not a good sign. Any other place I can go?
I would use liquid nails or some construction grade glue.
I was in Louisville in July to race and and found a funky little place called “On Your Left Bikes”. Great mechanic/owner, saved my ass. Right in town, up toward Cherokee Park, forget the main drag name but just out of downtown.
If I can find the address I will post it. Good luck, Hokiebird!
Thanks, found it! On Your Left Bicycles, a nice little shop on Baxter Rd, they called Vision and got in touch with warranty people. Unfortunately while it was still under warranty and would usually be gratis, they (Vision) wanted $80 for overnight shipping to get it for tomorrow. I balked at the charges, but didn’t want to take chances at negotiating and just wanted this thing done, so I agreed. Figure I’d raise my complaints after the bars are installed and I’ve rocked the race. God willing, it will all be ready by tomorrow afternoon!
