Going to be in Lake Placid this weekend and trying to decide if I’ll bother with bringing the wetsuit/trying to get a couple swims in. Anyone been out? I found something that said the temp was 57 last week, who knows if its accurate (or if its even the right mirror lake) but that would mean it has a chance of being 60 or so which isn’t terrible.
Is the best spot to get in still near LP brewery/tennis courts as I see from an old post?

Swam in Mirror Lake over Memorial Day weekend. Temperature was reportedly 60 degrees. I wore a wetsuit and had no problem with the temperature.
Swam there last weekend, its fine.
It was quite lovely this am. A bit brisk, but totally fine w/ wetsuit and regular swim cap.
I didn’t even bring a neoprene cap, nor would I have needed it.

Do you know if you can swim there anytime you want or is there specific times for swims?
People swim there at all hours of the day. I don’t think there’s such a thing as it being “closed”.
We started at 6am. There were people swimming after 5pm when we were leaving.

I was wearing my “virtual timing chip” for EpicMan.
Since swimming was part of the event, I swam.
If this season is anything like the last 2, the only other times you’ll find me in the water will be with an actual timing chip on my ankle.
I’d say only swimming while wearing a chip, and NEVER at any other times, the very definition of Total Aversion ™ swim training.
