Overnight oats

Overnight oats? Is this complimentary to morning wood?

hey man, you cant sow your oats without wood

I think we might have some regular. What’s your recipe?

my current favorite is:

1/2 cup of oats
1/2 cup of almond milk
a bit if cinnamon
splash of vanilla
a bit of maple syrup
some sliced peaches

put it in a container and stick it in the fridge overnight. in the morning, stir it and eat it cold.

there are many other recipies on the quaker oatmeal website. im going to try some of them with granola.

Damn. That sounds fantastic! I love oats in the morning, but we don’t have a microwave, and I don’t have a ton of time in the am to wait for the stove. I’ll definitely try this.no microwave…how the hell do you eat man??

We cook too much. My wife is a crazy person and hates left overs. We cook 5-6 nights of the week and get cheap take out somewhere one night. Might have left overs once a week.

We used to have a microwave but it was really shitty and old… Like so old it still would operate with the door open. Eventually the mechanism that turned the plate died so we would perpetually get half a scolding hot plate, half ice cold. Around that time we bought our current house which was built in the 50’s and has little counter space, so, it just never got replaced. We also don’t have a TV, as the house only had cable run to one room (which has the modem in it). Haven’t bothered to run cable to the family room, so, we got rid of our TV.

Soon I shall sell my truck and invest in a good horse and buggy, and replace my cordless drill with a nice bit and brace.

I have to say, I would be much more productive around the house if it wasn’t for tv! We have 5 in the house, one in each room. Really seems like overkill but they all get regular use, except the one in the sitting room upstairs. Only used that one when I was able to get on the trainer. Back problems are holding me back from that exercise shit right now though.

Honestly, I love not having a TV. When it’s on you’re just kind of… drawn to it. It wastes so much time. I’m up and about almost all day, out the door with the dog at 6 am and don’t typically sit down again until 8 pm. I watch a show on the laptop before bed sometimes, just to help me zone out and unwind.

I tried it this morning. Last night I put the bowl of veganerd approved overnight cold oats in the fridge (didn’t have almond milk so used 2%).
Much better then I would have imagined. Completely different texture than cooked oats and sometimes you just don’t want a hot breakfast. Definitely a winner in my book. It will be in the regular rotation.

They do have pretty sweet hats.

Wait until you try it with yogurt and chopped apples. Amaze balls! Swedish oatmeal FTW

That might be tomorrow’s breakfast. That or Duffy 's recipe.

i like some unsweetened vanilla almond milk. just enough to coat/wet it. then add some fage vanilla greek yogurt. stir that up and add a bunch of berries and banana. thinly sliced apples is great. some seeds/nuts are really good too.
look up bircher muesli.

Nobody seems to question your portion size. What are you, an elf? 1/2 cup of oats? My 100lb wife eats more than that for breakfast.

Have had it 2 days in a row now (about 3/4 cup, with walnuts and a forrest berry mix of fruits, some local maple syrup). Delicious.

I’m training for a triathAlon! Just kidding, I can’t swim.

Tried it yesterday, again this morning. I did 1/2 cup each of oats & unsweetened cashew milk, a scoop of choco protein powder, a bit of raw cocoa powder, a bit of cinnamon, splash of vanilla, teaspoon of natural peanut butter. It’s awesome. I sometimes forget how full oatmeal makes me, able to skip lunch entirely or just eat something really light.
