I have searched the forum and not found much info regarding where to get or actual use stories. Can anyone help with experience or sources for the Oval 710 stem face plate mounted below the bar clip ons? Looks like a neat idea for a clip on for 31.8 bars that taper too fast right out of the stem to use normal clamps.
Questions: stiffness OK? do your arms wind up hitting the base bar? cost and source? (Even QBP does not have them in their special order on-line catalog yet)
I saw on the Oval Concepts website that they are available as an underneath mount for both pads and extensions as a kit. All the on-line sources I was able to search had just the face plate and only showed the underneath mount for extensions only, no arm rests.
Having just skimmed through the latest triathlete and viewed this little set up…I’m a bit curious too. Looks like it ‘could’ be used pretty well for ITU riders as well. Not that I’m one of them or anything…just sayin’. It would be a good option for those who like riding on regular drop bars most of the time…and a pretty light weight one as well.
you might want to read this, and this. i have an oval concepts stem faceplate that has what i think you want, which are mounts for both extensions and armrests. but i don’t think you’d be happy with it, for the same reason profile design’s lightning stryke doesn’t work well: the armrest tilt follows the stem tilt. you want these elements to be separate of each other.

Dan,
How did you like the R910 Aergo Carbon Road Bar? I was considering them for my RR bike and have found noone that has ever USED it…
i’ve got many miles on that bar, and like it quite a bit. there are other nice ergonomic road bars out there, one by syntace, another by profile design, and of course others. i’ll never go back to a round bar.
